Door County, Wisconsin
The Door County peninsula in Wisconsin is one of the most popular destinations in the midwest, drawing people from many neighboring states.
Door County is home to five state parks: Newport State Park, ; Peninsula State Park, along more than 6 miles (10 km) of the Green Bay shoreline; Potawatomi State Park, ; Rock Island State Park, ; and Whitefish Dunes State Park, along Lake Michigan. Door County has 11 historic lighthouses that dot the peninsula’s shores, one of the largest concentrations of
lighthouses for any county in the United States. Three are regularly open for tours.
We stayed in Ellison Bay, and visited Peninsula State Park, both on the west side of the peninsula.

Lookout Towers:
Potawatomi Tower, Potawatomi State Park, Sturgeon Bay
A 75-foot observation tower, located in Potawatomi State Park which is about half way up the peninsula.
Eagle Tower, Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek
Eagle Tower in Peninsula State Park was closed in May of 2015 for structural concerns.
The Friends of Peninsula State Park have launched a fundraising drive to rebuild the tower, hopefully by 2018. For more information visit EagleTowerFund.com.
Mountain Park Lookout Tower, Washington Island
Look out over the northeast corner of Washington Island and see Rock Island State Park in the distance, the beginning of the Grand Traverse Islands, which stretch all the way up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Favorite Restaurant:
The English Inn, in Fish Creek. I would drive here just to have the mashed potatoes! This is kind of an old fashioned supper club type place, with fireplace, great martinis, outdoor seating. See their menu at: http://theenglishinn.com/dinner.html.
