Sustainable RV Living

Even though you may be driving a less-than-eco-friendly camper, and I know it may sound hypocritical talking about conservation and sustainability while traveling in an RV that gets such low gas mileage, but there are many things you can do to reduce your impact while full-time RVing. When you consider that you don’t drive it every day but rather stay in one place for at least a week and hopefully at least a month, you really don’t use as much fuel as you’d think. The average miles an RV travels per year is 5,000 miles. For us, since we’re living in a much smaller space than when we owned a home (about 240 square feet compared to over 2,000 square feet), the resources used to heat or cool our living space are much less. We’ve learned there are many other things that can conserve energy while camping, as well as best practices to follow to reduce our footprint.
