Place one slice of bread, butter side down, into pie iron. If using crescent roll dough, break 2 triangles from roll and then press seams together to create a square. Press into pie iron.
Add fruit filling on top of bread / dough
Top with other slice of bread, butter side up. If using crescent roll dough, break 2 triangles from roll and then press seams together to create a square. Place on top of filling.
Close pie iron and cook over hot coals or fire until both sides are toasted
Sprinkle powdered sugar over top if desired
Let cool before eating - filling will be very hot!
Notes
White bread can be used as a substitute for brioche.
